The French cried in 1967 or so: The cars are taking over the world. True then, true today, I would say. The difference thenand now: Nobody is mentally disturbed by cars anymore, at least not in the USA. everybody wants to buy one, and everybody wants to drive one.
Plato said something like: All art is a lie. May be; I don’t know, but car ads are certainly lies with no remorse. They all show these cars doing 180s and spiffin’ around the country side. The reality is different: Stuck in traffic and everybody cursing. Life today takes place in cars stuck out there on the roads.
