James Benning, a renowned experimental filmmaker showed some of his works at theNational Gallery of Art, Washingtn D.C. USA last weekend. One of his films was a study of cigareette skmokers. It was an unusal, perhaps odd, film, for there was no panning, no Zooming in or out, not cutting. There was just a camera on a tripod, unmoving, recording individuals smoking cigareettes. It is a powerful film, teetering on the border of boredom. I ran home and made a response to it. Here is one of them.
