It was twenty years ago when the world lost legendary Latina music artist Selena Quintanilla-Perez, most commonly known as Selena. The 31st of March marked the anniversary of her untimely death in 1995, when she was shot and killed by the president of her fan club and one of her boutique managers.
Selena was not only a Grammy-winning singer, but also a songwriter, spokesperson, and fashion designer. Her accomplishments in music and fashion have made her celebrated as a role model and a Mexican American icon.
UInterview reports that fans around the world were preparing to celebrate the iconic singer’s life. Corpus Christi, her hometown in Texas, will hold a massive two-day festival, Fiesta de la Flor, beginning April 17.
